[Yeonnam-dong ] The seduction of Gilmac(beer drinking on a street) at both of day and night time - Pizza Monster/ Sulpermarket.

 

Recently, I have visted Yeonnam-dong many times. In the past, I came here to find good restaurants or look around unique workshops of  artists. These days, however, I came here to enjoy Gilmac on a lawn in Yeonnam-dong. 'Gilmac' is a compound Korean word of gil(street) and macju(beer). It means drinking beer on a street.

The view of Gyeng-ui line Forest Park spreads out before your eyes, once you take a exit No.3 of Hongdae station and walk along the street. When I came here first, it was like a hidden treasure because this place was not well known much at that time. However, this place became very famous with the epithet of 'Yeontral Park(Yeonnam-dong + Central Park)'.  Especially, in this beautiful weather, many people came here, spread a mat they bring toghether on the grass and spend happy time with friends sharing a talk and eating foods.

Meanwhile, if you take a look at those people, there is one thing interesting, which is that most of them are holding beer on their hand. Slightly perplexed between people with a litte bit tipsy, you might think that "where on earth is everybody getting beer?"

 

As a matter of fact, you can find many places to buy different kinds of beer since here is Yeontral Park where people get drunk at day time. Simply you could just buy them in a convenience store. In order to enjoy Gilmac thoroughly,  however, I recommend to visit 'Monster Pizza' and 'Sulpermarket'

MONSTER PIZZA

 

 

 

 

 This burger shop sells real monster size of Pizza and draft beer in a plastic cup. One slice of Pizza costs about 4,000Won($4)~5000Won($5) and one cup of beer about 2,000Won ($2)-3,000Won ($3). You can taste Pizza and Beer altoghether at a cheaper price. Pizza itself tastes very salty delicious flavor - as we expected from Junk foods. This makes a perfect combination with beer in plastic.

 

 

Sulper Market





Sulper Market is where you can taste very different kinds of beers. To my surprise, there were so many kinds of beer from all around the world. Inside shop, there is no any place to sit down. Why? This is because Yeontral Park is just unfolding in front of this shop. You just only need to bring beer from Sulper Market, take a sit on a lawn and drink beer.

Beneath the scorching Sun, we found out the shade of trees and drink beer there.

At slightly cooler night, you can talk about things you wouldn't do normally drinking beers and watching beautiful sunset.
